Anna Maria Island Wedding Festival was a big success!

February 9, 2010 by Leslie

The 3rd Annual Anna Maria Island Wedding Festival had lots of brides and grooms enjoying our gorgeous Florida weather. They met with Leslie & many other wedding vendors all in one day! They visited first hand: spas, photographers, venues, caterers, florists, DJ’s, hair and make-up professionals and many more vendors who help make wedding dreams come true.

Over $10,000 in prizes – Visions Unlimited / Beautiful Videos is donated  several $100 gift certificates for the gift baskets which were given away at a “Mock Wedding” at the Sandbar during sunset (where I shot a real wedding video Saturday night). I hope we saw you there and that you won one of my gift certificates!

Siesta Key Island Trolley
Siesta Key Island Trolley

Transportation was be provided, and brides & grooms enjoyed free trolley rides from the AMI Chamber of Commerce parking lot to The Man Cave at the Community Center, the Sun House Restaurant, The Loft, Body and Sol Spa & Wellness,  Haley’s Hotel and many other great wedding vendors. Check in was at the AMI Chamber parking lot  (you saw 2 big white tents), and  could leave your car behind. You could bring your bikes & enjoy the day while getting fit!  Couples enjoyed touring the island with other brides and grooms, visiting venues and wedding vendors there. Thank you for visiting me at Aqua Aveda Salon & Spa!  It was great to meet so many wonderful brides-to-be and their handsome fiances. I enjoyed showing you my sample wedding videos and getting your feedback. If you’d like to know more about videography, I’m only a phone call away: 941/315-3456. Call any time. I’m here for you.

St. Barbara’s Greek Orthodox Church Wedding

Enjoy this wedding film at St. Barbara’s and Lakewood Ranch Country Club.

See the beautiful Lakewood Ranch Country Club about 1 minute into this video. LWR CC is landscaped beautifully for wedding portraits, and the ballroom is perfect for large wedding receptions.  Affairs in the Air, Inc. adds to the ambiance and beauty of this wedding reception.

How to Hire the Best Photographer for Your Wedding

January 18, 2010 by Leslie

Instructions for Hiring a Great Wedding Photographer for your wedding:

1. Ask your videographer, family, friends and recent newlyweds for a recommendation. Then, interview in-person or over the phone. You can also consult other wedding vendors who have likely worked with wedding photographers.

2. Request to see a complete coverage of each photographer’s work – that is, ask for a picture portfolio of an entire wedding for which he or she was hired. Meeting in person will allow you to choose an album, go over wedding photography packages and express your wants easily.

3. Choose an overall photographic style that suits you, whether photojournalistic, candid, formal posed portraits, artsy with added dramatic flourishes, color or black-and-white for a romantic classy look – or select a blend of a number of styles. Which can the prospective photographer deliver?

4. Consider the photographer’s personality. Decide if you share a vision and will get along well. Remember, the photographer will be with you on the most important day of your life.

5. Check prices, including those of packages offered and numbers of prints included. Remember, it’s always worth it to invest in a good photographer. Your wedding day memories will be captured perfectly or near-perfectly on film by a true profesional.

6. Schedule a follow-up discussion to hammer out specifics specific shots you want and don’t want, the shooting schedule on the day of the wedding, the number of proofs available and the negatives policy (how long they’re available and whether they’re for sale).

Outdoor Wedding Advice by Professional Wedding Videographer Leslie

January 14, 2010 by Leslie

If you’re contemplating an outdoor wedding, here are some things to consider.

DO plan an outdoor wedding if…

– You want to host a Dove Release. (The represent peace, love, unity, prosperity and new beginnings).

– You have a special attachment to a particular type of outdoor setting.

– You enjoy spontaneity and natural outdoor beauty.

– You want to set your celebration apart from other weddings, perhaps even your own previous weddings if one or both of you have been married previously.

– You want to blend religious traditions in a flexible, non-denominational setting. Non-religious weddings are perfect for outdoor venues.

– Your wedding ceremony will be part of a multi-day wedding event. (Plan on an outdoor brunch the day after your wedding for more time with family and friends.)

– You’re organized and able to plan for a variety of scenarios. (Make sure to have a tent or covered area to retreat to, in case of rain. Plan B needs to be considered in case you’d like to move your wedding indoors.)

– You want to increase the amount of time available to share with loved ones by holding both your wedding ceremony and reception at a single location. (You will save money and time when you eliminate traveling long distances to your reception.)

– You’d like to include horses, dogs and other pets in your wedding service. (Be careful; pets can steel the show if you aren’t careful. If your pet is not VERY WELL TRAINED, I would not recommend including them. I’ll add another post to my blog about PETS & WEDDINGS – coming soon.)

– You want to create a wedding celebration that is unique, personal, distinctive and memorable. (Your wedding should reflect the bride and groom’s personalities.)

– You can be a Zen-Bride. Don’t keep a constant eye on the time. Remember that many tropical islands run on “island time” – Things happen when they happen – Keep an open mind. Minor mishaps can sometimes make for the best memories ~ honestly!

DON’T choose an outdoor wedding if…

– You hate surprises. (This is one of the charming things about outdoor wedding locations, you DO NOT have control over everything. Often charming and spontaneous things happen. You need to have a sense-of-humor & be open minded.)

– You will be horribly disappointed if the weather is uncooperative and everything does not go according to your plan. (Some of my most favorite sunset portraits were shot as storms threatened… and later arrived. These are also some of the most memorable weddings. The bride who takes it all in stride will accept whatever comes & ENJOY IT!)

– You’re seeking to simply be different or to upstage your friends. (Sometimes the simple weddings can be the most profound and heartfelt.)

– You don’t like the outdoors. (This is a no-brainer, but I’ve seen brides who just aren’t comfortable with an occasional insect or windy breeze. This made it hard for them to relax.)

– You need controlled and staged surrounds for your wedding day.

Whatever you decide…

– Have your wedding memories captured by a Professional Video Production Company.  The the best wedding investment you can make is for your future.
